Currently, Brazil has only 04 female police officers serving in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations: 02 in East Timor (one police Capt. From Bahia Police Department – PMBA, and one Second Lt. from São Paulo State Police Department – PMSP) and 02 in South Sudan (02 Second Lt.)
Most recently, 03 female police captains from the Brazilian Federal District Military State Police Department (Polícia Militar do Distrito Federal – PMDF) have been appointed to the UN Missions in Guiné-Bissau (01) and East Timor (02).
Of the 04 UN Peacekeeping Missions that Brazil have police officers deployed, MINUSTAH (Haiti) is the only one that has never had a Brazilian female police officer.
We are making some progress… very slowly, though!
