Brazilian female police officers in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations – as of 04 April 2012

Currently, Brazil has only 04 female police officers serving in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations: 02 in East Timor (one police Capt. From Bahia Police Department – PMBA, and one Second Lt. from São Paulo State Police Department – PMSP) and 02 in South Sudan (02 Second Lt.)

Most recently, 03 female police captains from the Brazilian Federal District Military State Police Department (Polícia Militar do Distrito Federal – PMDF) have been appointed to the UN Missions in Guiné-Bissau (01) and East Timor (02).

Of the 04 UN Peacekeeping Missions that Brazil have police officers deployed, MINUSTAH (Haiti) is the only one that has never had a Brazilian female police officer.

We are making some progress… very slowly, though!

  1. Slowly, but happening! And after the new 03 female officers be deployed, the total is almost the double that we have today! We need to do a hard work of divulgation of the importance of the mission, and the need of female on the field!

  2. Oh my! These officers are from my city! 😀 go PMDF
